Zip-code pricing without Shopware's 500-rule ceiling for a recycling shop
We replaced one-rule-per-range zip-code pricing in the easy-recycle Shopware shop with a single indexed lookup, and set up full marketing measurement behind Cookiebot consent.
The Challenge
Every zip-code range in the easy-recycle shop needed its own Shopware pricing rule, and Shopware caps rules at 500. Buhck Umweltservices sells recycling and disposal products there, and delivery prices depend on the customer's postal code. The per-range setup did not scale, was slow to maintain, and made the cart evaluate many rules per line item.
The Approach
We run the shop as an ongoing engagement. The engineering centerpiece is a redesigned zip-code pricing system: custom database tables, a single custom rule class and a lightweight cart enricher replace the per-zip Shopware rules. We launched additional sales channels, extended the theme, and set up full marketing measurement with Google Tag Manager, GA4, Google Ads conversion tracking and Meta Pixel, behind Cookiebot consent. We also delivered a proper staging environment and deployer, plus a Shopware 6.7 upgrade-readiness assessment.
The Results
We replaced one Shopware rule per range with a single custom rule backed by database tables, which removed the 500-rule ceiling. At cart time, each line item now needs one indexed lookup instead of many rule evaluations. The client now manages prices, ranges and regional content through CSV import instead of manual per-zip entry.
