Answered here rather than on a call, because you should be able to rule us out without talking to anyone.
We do not publish rates, because the scope drives the number and the scope is different every time. What we do commit to: the fee is agreed in writing before anything starts, it is tied to a defined scope, and it does not move unless you change the scope. No surprise bills. No hidden fees. Ever.
If a budget range is the thing standing between you and a conversation, say the range in your first message and we will tell you straight away whether it is realistic.
Usually you do not. The cases where you do are the ones where the decision touches work your own people have already done - nobody is independent about their own architecture - or where the decision is outside what your team has built before. An outside read is worth paying for when being wrong is expensive and being slow is also expensive.
Two differences, both structural. First, the people in the room are the people who would build it, so a recommendation we make is one we would have to live with. Second, you meet them before anything is agreed, rather than meeting a pitch team and being staffed afterwards.
We are also smaller, which cuts both ways. If you need 40 consultants in eight countries next month, we are the wrong call and will say so.
Then that is the answer, and it is the one worth the most. The Basalt-Actien-Gesellschaft engagement above was an audit that mapped what was worth fixing and in what order - not a case for a rebuild. An advisory engagement that can only conclude "yes, hire us to build it" is not advice.
A first conversation, within a few days. A scoped Architecture Review runs 2-3 days of work; the AI Impact Sprint 2 weeks; the Platform & Cloud Assessment 2-3 weeks. Start dates depend on who the question needs - we will give you a real date in the first call, not "soon".
You do, outright, on delivery. Written in German or English, whichever your board reads. Everything is under NDA if you want one, and we will sign yours rather than insisting on ours.
No, and the advisory work is priced as if you will not. Many clients do go on to build with us, which is the point of "one continuous responsibility" - but an engagement that only pays off if it wins us the build is an engagement with a thumb on the scale.
