Our team had the opportunity to collaborate on the development of the PENNY App, a retail application designed to enhance user convenience and provide exclusive savings opportunities for PENNY customers. We focused on creating a seamless, user-friendly interface that enables customers to access exclusive discounts and activate coupons easily. By integrating a feature for personalized customer accounts, we helped users track their savings and optimize their in-store experiences. Additionally, we ensured the app was optimized for high performance and reliable functionality, supporting a smooth checkout experience with the in-app digital barcode system.

Our contribution
We delivered an app that combines modern technology with an intuitive user experience. Using TypeScript, we built a scalable, maintainable codebase, while Google Firebase provided secure, serverless infrastructure with services like Authentication, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions. On the frontend, Vue.js enabled responsive and user-friendly interfaces. Automated testing with Mocha ensured reliability, and thorough debugging optimized performance. The result is a fast, secure, and seamless application that meets user needs efficiently.
Our collaboration on the PENNY App encompassed several key features aimed at enhancing user experience and providing significant value to customers. Exclusive coupons were developed to offer users access to exclusive discounts directly within the app, allowing them to activate and redeem discounts effortlessly during their shopping trips. We implemented personalized customer accounts, enabling users to create personal accounts that facilitate the tracking of their savings and the management of their shopping preferences. Additionally, a digital barcode system was integrated to allow users to scan their personalized advantage code at the checkout, streamlining the redemption of discounts and coupons. We introduced a smart shopping list feature that helps users organize their shopping needs efficiently, ensuring they never miss an item during their store visits. To keep users informed about the latest offers, we incorporated a digital version of the weekly flyer within the app, providing easy access to current promotions and deals.
Working closely with our client, we identified their core needs: delivering a fast, responsive app with seamless data synchronization and easy user onboarding.
